When we consider God’s name concerning righteousness, we have to know it’s one of, if not the most, important characteristics of God that we need most.

We cannot, and never will be able to be, righteous on our own. We needed and need the righteousness that Jesus gave to us as a gift.

As humans we believe that if we put our mind to it we can achieve anything. Wrong! We cannot obtain the righteousness needed to come into God’s presence. But Jesus provided the righteousness that is inherent in the Godhead, and gave to us.

Righteousness is the standing that we have with God. But, without Jesus, we have no standing. We cannot boast, any of us, about our goodness, or holiness, or even our ability to figure out God Himself. We are wandering in the dark if we trust in ourselves, but walking in the Light if we are trusting the Lord’s provision.

Why don’t we embrace what God has done? It’s really simple, we are stubborn, rebellious and prideful. All of us. But that doesn’t mean I don’t love you. It’s just the human condition.

Fortunately for us, God has provided the appropriate amount of mercy. Let’s all accept the gift of God through His Son Jesus. We just can’t get there by ourselves.
